~ CONNECTIONS: FINDING YOUR PLACE ~

We all need a place to belong, right? To be accepted and understood. To feel as if what we have to offer is valued. But sometimes it can be difficult to find that kind of place within a large group such as a church family. That's why small groups are so important. In a small group you'll find friends you can trust with your thoughts, your life experiences, your worries and everything in between. Here are just a few of the small groups you might find of interest at Bethel. Take a few minutes to read through the descriptions and when you find one you like, give the church office a call (645-9426) so we can get you connected!

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY: This group typically meets on Monday nights at 7:00 in the Fellowship Hall, the Women's Bible Study is a great place to connect with women of all ages, while nourishing your soul through Christian study. Contact Jan LoBiondo for more information.

FAITHFUL FRIENDS BOOK CLUB: This small group is currently on hiatus due to the up-coming stewardship campaign but still meets once a month for a dinner get-together. Contact Ann Wotring for more information.

FUEL SMALL GROUP: This small group Bible study for youth takes the place of the traditional Sr. High Sunday School class so that our youth can be encouraged to remain for the entire 9:00 worship service each Sunday. Though it is geared for older youth, Jr. High students are welcome. Meetings are on Sunday mornings from 10:15 to 11:15 in the Parsonage Meeting House. For more information about our youth ministries, click here.

C-SIDE SIGNERS: Though Bethel does not currently have any church members who use American Sign Language as their main means of communication, we can all appreciate the beauty and grace of this language. Much like music, it allows us to communicate in ways other than mere words. The C-Side Signers is a group that interprets religious songs through signing. This group is currently not meeting.

METHODIST MEN: This group of men, young and young-at-heart, meet on the third Sunday morning of each month for a hearty breakfast, fellowship, and focus. Each month's meeting features a different guest speaker who brings a message on topics that range from discipleship to current event. Meetings begin at 7:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

WOMEN'S CIRCLE GROUPS: Through Christian fellowship, devotional time, and prayer, our women's Circles strive to grow closer to each other as they grow closer to God. The Mary-Martha Circle meets for lunch at noon on the first Wednesday of each month at various local Restaurants. The Elizabeth Circle meets at 6:00 pm on the first Tuesday of each month in the Parsonage Meeting House. For information, please contact the Church Office.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY: Do you love to knit or crochet? Why not join the Prayer Shawl Ministry? This group of dedicated crafters meets each Monday at 2:15 in the Lounge to create prayer shawls to distribute to the sick, bereaved, broken, and lonely. What a wonderful way to put your hobby to work in ministry! For more information about other care-giving ministries, click here.

SANDY KECK PRAYER GROUP: Dedicated in memory of one of Bethel's strongest prayer warriors, the Sandy Keck Prayer Group meets each Monday at 12:00 noon in the Lounge to pray over the concerns of the church, the community, and the world. For more information about other care-giving ministries, click here.

L.E.A.P.: Calling all "dog people!" Literacy Education Assistance Pups, or LEAP, is a group of dedicated volunteers who, along with the assistance of their dogs, help children with literacy skills. The children learn to love reading by spending time reading to their "furry friends." LEAP holds weekly sessions in area schools, health care facilities, and churches. For more information about LEAP, click here to visit their website.

LEWES MEN'S CHORUS: Do you enjoy the music of days gone by? Would you like to boost the spirits of veterans, shut-ins and disabled persons all over Kent and Sussex County? Then why not give the Lewes Men's Chorus a try. Under the direction of Mr. Bill Earl, this group provides a wonderful ministry of music to the nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and retirement communities in our area. The group rehearses each Monday evening in Bethel UMC's music room. Call Bill Earl at 645-5618 for more information.
